Yesterday, the Massachusetts Public Health Council voted to approve Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s plans for a new $50.5 million proton therapy center at its Longwood Medical Campus. The facility, expected to open in late 2027, will use highly targeted proton beam radiation that can reduce side effects and damage to healthy tissue. The move also intensifies competition with Mass General Brigham, which operates the only currently active proton therapy center in the state. Read more in The Boston Globe.

Congratulations to the team at Emvolon (30 Sixth Road, Woburn), which was awarded a $985,000 grant under the Massachusetts Manufacturing Innovation Initiative (M2I2) to build and deploy a pilot system that converts methane from organic waste into carbon-negative fuels. Emvolon will also collaborate with Shawsheen Valley Technical High School to provide hands-on training opportunities for students. Emvolon director of operations Vassilis Triantopoulos (center) accepted the award from Lily Fitzgerald (r), director of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing, and Zhuging Wang, senior manager, manufacturing technology and innovation for MassTech Collaborative.

Azurity Pharmaceuticals (8 Cabot Road, Woburn) recently announced that ARYNTA™ (lisdexamfetamine dimesylate) Oral Solution is now available in the United States for treating ADHD in adults and pediatric patients 6 years and older. Arynta, a ready-to-use lisdexamfetamine oral solution that may be stored at room temperature, received FDA approval in June 2025. Read more.
