Associated Press reports today on new research from the West Health-Gallup Center on Healthcare in America finding that 25 percent of Americans have consulted an AI tool or chatbot for health information or guidance, primarily to complement their medical care. More than half of recent users say they rely on AI because they prefer to do their own research before or after visiting a doctor. According to the Gallup survey, roughly 70 percent of U.S. adults who used AI for health research in the past month did so to get quick answers, gather additional information, or satisfy curiosity. Vaxess Technologies has rebranded as Terrestrial Bio, raising $50 million in Series C funding as it pivots from vaccines to delivering GLP-1 therapies like semaglutide via microneedle skin patches. The company has expanded its operations at Cummings Park in Woburn. CEO Rachel Sha told Endpoints News, "The explosive growth of the GLP-1 market really created a lot of interest and enthusiasm on our side, and an opportunity to actually impact patient health, population health, in a different way, arguably perhaps even in a bigger way, than vaccines."

Yesterday, Sunflower Therapeutics (200 Boston Avenue, Medford) announced a major milestone in its collaboration with BioTesserae, supporting a successful first-in-dog study of BTC-001, a novel antibody therapy for canine cancer. The therapy was shown to be well tolerated, marking an important step forward in veterinary immunotherapy for canine cancer. Sunflower’s yeast-based, manufacturability-by-design platform enabled production and qualification of the bulk drug substance used in the safety study. Read more.

Tiba Biotech (78 Olympia Avenue, Woburn) announced a multi-year strategic collaboration with The Pirbright Institute's Centre for Veterinary Vaccine Innovation and Manufacturing to accelerate the development of next-generation RNA vaccines targeting high-impact livestock diseases.

The project is supported by funding from the Gates Foundation as well as the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. It will leverage Tiba's proprietary RNABL™ delivery platform with Pirbright's world-class expertise in livestock virology in a shared mission to improve global animal health and food security.

Gentuity (142 North Road, Sudbury), a medical technology company specializing in next-generation intravascular imaging devices, will partner with GE HealthCare to increase the availability of Gentuity's High-Frequency OCT Imaging System (HF-OCT) and Vis-Rx® PRIME Micro-Imaging Catheter. Together, Gentuity and GE HealthCare share a goal of advancing patient care by providing tools - including the HF-OCT - designed to enable more precise planning and treatment for percutaneous coronary interventions.
