ABOUT THE JOB:

As a purchasing agent, you will work with the purchasing manager and fellow agents on the procurement and project management aspects of many of Cummings’ construction/development projects and ongoing maintenance operations. Current projects include new multi-story commercial buildings, exterior façade and building interior upgrades, and office, medical office, retail, light industrial, and laboratory fit-ups. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing day-to-day purchasing bids, including:
    • Estimating, negotiating, and purchasing commercial construction labor and materials
    • Locating alternative competitive vendors for best pricing and value
    • Negotiating, evaluating, preparing, and processing purchase orders
    • Promoting and maintaining favorable vendor relations
    • Expediting the delivery of goods and services
  • Reliably organizing, administering, and monitoring a range of contracts—and critically reviewing such contracts during negotiations and on an ongoing basis—including:
    • Property services contracts
    • Construction services contracts
    • Energy supply purchase agreements
  • Optimizing purchasing operations by:
    • Identifying and implementing cost-saving initiatives
    • Streamlining recurring processes (e.g., purchase order system, invoicing, etc.)
    • Adapting purchasing capabilities to meet evolving priorities and changing conditions
