Cummings Properties is seeking an Owner’s Representative / Construction Estimator to join our 20-person Design Department in Woburn, MA. The twenty team members represent architecture, interior design, construction management, graphic and web design, as well mechanical and structural engineering. We design and manage nearly everything from major commercial buildings to websites. (cummings.com/about/design-dept.html)

Applicant should have a broad familiarity with commercial construction practices with a background in construction or architecture. The two main areas of responsibility are: 1) Review of construction proposed by our clients within their leased premises to confirm its compliance with property owner standards; and 2) Providing estimates for modifications to be performed by our in-house construction division, to be made on a client’s behalf. These estimates include “back of napkin” budgets to line item takeoffs. Projects are primarily interior renovations (from building an office to an entire suite).

This fast-paced position requires accurate technical proficiency, attention to detail, clear written communication skills, and an upbeat professional attitude. Applicants should be local area professionals with proven expertise, a desire and aptitude to learn and adapt on the job, and work ethics to match.

About You and the Position:

Qualified applicants should be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and be willing to jump in to help bring projects to completion. Specific job responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing client construction documents for compliance with property owner standards.
  • Explaining proposed client construction to property management team.
  • Providing written memos including summary of non-compliant construction.
  • Coordinating requests from client construction representatives with the Cummings management team.
  • Providing cost estimates for fit-up construction based on Cummings standard pricing system.
  • Preparing Word and Excel documents. AutoCAD and Bluebeam experience a plus.
