Lab Planner / Technical Architect

We are seeking a creative, motivated designer to join our Design/Build team to plan and build facilities for a range of science and technology clients including biotech, medical, materials science, and precision manufacturing. This position offers an exciting opportunity with one of the region’s most well respected and financially stable real estate firms.

Responsibilities:
Cummings Properties science and technology incubators and built-to-suit facilities are a well-know destination for lab and R&D clients. Working with our internal leasing representatives and our construction and engineering team, we regularly build and renovate client facilities that include wet labs, clean rooms, and manufacturing centers. Our designer’s fit-up responsibilities include planning, estimating, construction documents, and construction administration.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture
  • 3 to 5 years of practical architectural design, including experience with laboratory and technical facility design principles, casework and equipment, and mechanical systems.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in AutoCAD, Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Revit, Sketch Up, or Photoshop experience a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • High attention to detail and an ability to generate cost-effective design solutions.
  • Positive, “can-do” attitude, and strong written and graphic communication skills.
  • Applicants should be local area professionals with proven expertise, a desire and aptitude to learn and adapt on the job, and work ethics to match.

About the Design Department: Our team of designers, architects, and engineers produces a large volume of diverse projects, including new building, fit-up, and speculative property development plans. In addition to our fit-up work, current projects include large-scale site development, multi-story commercial buildings, and assisted-living residences. We also plan exterior, interior, and energy retrofit renovations to existing buildings.
