Senior Director of Accounting and Finance


Job Description:

For over 50 years, Cummings Properties has provided its leasing clients with high-quality commercial space and related services at a great value. Cummings Properties is now seeking a Senior Director of Accounting and Finance (SDAF) to manage all of its internal accounting and reporting, financial planning, and analysis activities. The SDAF will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and lead a team of 10. In addition to overseeing routine monthly closing activities, this new colleague will be directly involved in planning and analysis, internal financial and operational audits, and facilitation of tax return preparation with external preparers. The ideal candidate will be hands on and collaborative, while possessing the desire to constantly improve processes with an emphasis toward financial and operational best practices.

Job Requirements:

  • Provide day-to-day staff management, coaching, mentorship, and development.
  • Develop a vision for the department, which includes strategic and transformational projects to drive automation and efficiency to existing workflows.
  • Responsible for management of all financial reports to the CFO and Executive Team, including appropriate analysis and articulation of findings.
  • Collaborate with Operations leadership to assure comprehensive analysis of trends, benchmarking, and effective reporting.
  • Oversee the analysis that supports business development and network development decisions.
  • Maintain compliance with external regulations and internal policies.

Job Qualifications:

  • Ten or more years of accounting and finance experience, including at least five years in management roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business required. MBA and/or CPA (or equivalent accounting certification) strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with process improvement methodologies, project management, and change management strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and personal accountability are necessary so that all assignments are correctly resourced, managed, and delivered.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with Executive-level interface experience.
  • Strong mentoring and training experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise.
  • Expertise with Advanced Microsoft Suite and financial systems; MRI software experience preferred but not required.
  • Exceptional executive-level leadership.
