The effort began in 1997 when Ray recruited three of his most respected development colleagues to Groove to begin work on this new vision for Internet communications. Since that time, the company has assembled a first-class development team. The company is currently building sales, marketing, service and other aspects of its business as it prepares its go-to-market initiatives. The company has an experienced management team, and has attracted more than $20 million in financing from private investors and Accel Partners, one of the leading high-tech venture capital firms. James Breyer, Accel’s managing partner, and Mitch Kapor, an Accel partner, and the founder of Lotus Development Corporation, are members of the company’s board of directors.
