Touch-a-Truck
and Car Show Coming Soon
Media Release
Rev your engines,
raise your hoods and start exploring! The Cummings Properties' Touch-A-Truck
and Car Show event will be held on Sunday, September 21 from 10:00 a.m.
to 2:00 p.m., rain or shine, at West Cummings Park on Washington Street,
Woburn. Kids of all ages are welcome to attend this free community event.
Free balloons, toy
hard hats, and a special appearance by Bob the Builder, courtesy of the
event's sponsor, are sure to draw visitors. There will also be an opportunity
to meet children's author, James Martin II, who will sign copies of his
popular book, William is Going Green of the William the Garbage Truck
and Crew series.
Special attractions
this year will include a Jaws of Life demonstration and a "smoke
house" which teaches children the importance of smoke alarms and
how to escape a fire. The street team from radio station Golden Oldies
103.3 will provide tunes and giveaways.
This year's Touch-a-Truck
highlights are expected to include a Mobile Command Center from North
Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council, a Hummvee from the Massachusetts
National Guard, and a State Police crime scene investigation van.
Organizers reportedly
anticipate vehicles to also include aerial lifts, tow trucks, a concrete
pumper truck, fire trucks, ambulances and dump trucks, as well as a brand
new Caterpillar grader, a snowfighter and a kid's size school bus.
The Car Show (please
admire but do not touch) is sure to be a favorite for car aficionados.
Event organizers report that this year's line-up will likely include two
antique fire trucks, a 1930 Model A Ford street rod and a 1956 Rolls Royce.
Local Woburn business Chop-Shop Customs plans to have a special car restoration
project.
One of the best parts
of the entire show is the interaction between safety officials and the
public. "Kids and adults love meeting their hometown heroes. Woburn
firefighters lifting kids into fire trucks and Woburn police officers
giving tours of the command center really help strengthen community ties,"
said one of the event's coordinators and Woburn resident, Brian Borselli.
MYCHIP (Masonic Youth
Child ID Program) is scheduled to offer parents a chance to collect a
free identification packet of their child to keep. The packet will include
fingerprints, toothprints, a cheekswab and a brief interview on videotape
for each child.
Food, drinks and snacks
including popcorn, hamburgers, ice cream, coffee and pretzels will be
available for purchase from local vendors.
Cummings Properties
is a commercial real estate management and development firm as well as
the original sponsor of Cummings Foundation and the New Horizons Retirement
Community at the former Choate Hospital.
