Serious athletes,
stressed out workers and chronic pain sufferers now have a first-class
space that caters to their needs. The Sports Spa, LLC, formerly Toomey
Sports, has leased more than 1,500 square feet at 300 TradeCenter 128
with Cummings Properties.
The Sports Spa, which
previously leased space from Cummings Properties in Stoneham, needed more
space to accommodate its growing client base. The Sports Spa reportedly
offers a wide range of services from an Alter-G anti-gravity treadmill
to sports specific training and hot Epson salt soaks. Its space also includes
a personal fitness and stretching area.
According to company
officials, the Alter-G anti-gravity treadmill is highly regarded for its
training and rehabilitation capabilities. Designed by NASA engineers,
it is capable of unloading up to 80 percent of a user's body weight, which
enables individuals to reduce their effective body weight for health and
medical applications, decrease the risk of injury and expand athletic
training and conditioning. The Sports Spa's Alter-G is said to be one
of the first ones in New England.
One of the region's
more accomplished runners, Jennifer Toomey, will reportedly offer one
on one and group coaching for track and field and road running athletes
as well as injury prevention and cross training workouts for injured runners
at the new facility. Toomey is the current American record holder in the
indoor 1,000 meter - the fourth fastest woman all time, as well as a 2004
Olympic Trials runner-up in the 1,500 meter.
Owner Mike Toomey,
a nationally certified massage therapist and a certified Active Release
Technique practitioner, said he was looking forward to the new space for
the free ample parking as well as great visibility. The Sports Spa has
its own entrance across from the landscaped pond on the inner courtyard
of TradeCenter 128.
Tom Maregni, a Cummings
Properties' associate property manager who represented the firm in the
lease transaction, said, "With all of the medical offices located
in this area, we expect that many of their clients from post-surgery patients
to pregnant women will find the Sports Spa's services extremely valuable
and convenient. In addition, the numerous athletes in the Boston-area
will likely want to sample The Sports Spa's unique offerings."
Toomey was also impressed
with the building's contsruction that was built to foster a healthy environment.
"We help people care for, strengthen and heal their bodies, so our
space needs to support that philosophy," he added. TradeCenter 128
was designed to be green, Maregni commented. It is LEED Gold pre-certified,
has operable windows, improved air quality, green housekeeping and was
built using low VOC paints and construction materials.
Cummings Properties
is a Woburn-based commercial real estate company that manages nearly 10
