Picture books, nifty
art projects and playgrounds may not be what the Gill Street Science Cluster
is known for, but Little Sprouts, Inc., moving into more than 8,000 square
feet of space and land at 4 Gill St., will have no problem fitting right
in.
The Lawrence-based
early education organization reportedly offers cutting-edge literacy,
science, music and movement curriculums to teach children from one month
to school age the critical socio-emotional skills of problem solving,
self-regulation, interactive learning and collaborative play that will
enable them to become lifelong learners.
Its Early Reading
First program is said to be designed to introduce a high-quality scientifically
based literacy program which prepares young children to enter kindergarten
with the necessary language, cognitive and early reading skills to prevent
reading difficulties and ensure school success.
The Woburn site is
reportedly the eighth for the 26-year old company and will meet the needs
of 93 students. Little Sprouts notes is also opening up a ninth school
in Haverhill. Its schools reportedly provide services to more than 1,200
children in eight towns that also include Andover, Lowell, Methuen, Roxbury
and Westford. Little Sprouts is said to be the only school in Massachusetts
to receive the 2006 U.S. Department of Education Preschool Centers of
Excellence Award.
"We are excited
to have this opportunity to bring our award winning education to the children
in the Woburn community," stated Leger-Ferraro.
Marc Knittle, Cummings
Properties' key account manager, said, "We are pleased to help offer
a dynamic school with such a strong reputation. We know many area businesses
as well as residents will benefit from this organization's presence."
The preschool offers
unique services, which are said to include a Literacy Intervention Specialist
to work directly with children who need additional literacy support. A
Community Connector helps families transition into public schools and
provides a portfolio for families to give to new kindergarten teachers
to better understand each child's abilities.
Cummings Properties
is a Woburn-based real estate development and property management company,
which believes in delivering the highest quality services available to
its more than 2,000 client firms in 10 communities around Boston.
