Skip the operator, forget the extension and bypass lengthy phone menus. Parlance Corporation's proven speech recognition technology makes it possible for a caller to dial one number for a company, say the name of the person they are trying to reach and be connected over existing voice networks. Who knew calling could be so simple?

The managed service provider for enterprise voice networks that is facilitating phone calls now calls Woburn home. Parlance is relocating its corporate headquarters from Medford to more than 8,000 square feet at 400 West Cummings Park, Woburn under a new, six-year lease.

For the last decade, Parlance has leased space from Cummings Properties at 200 Boston Ave., Medford. The locally owned telecommunications company reportedly wanted to stay with the Woburn-based commercial real estate firm but required a significant expansion. With a portfolio of more than nine million square feet, Cummings Properties was readily able to accommodate Parlance's growth.

"Parlance was searching for a fresh look, affordable rates, convenient amenities and our continued customer service," said Tony Spencer, a Cummings Properties' leasing/property manager, "In fact, all of the construction and design were handled by our in-house services."

Spencer represented Cummings Properties in the transaction. Parlance was represented by Joseph Maxwell, chief operating officer at Parlance, and Connie Yuen, chief financial officer.

400 West Cummings Park is a 180,000 square foot office building almost abutting Interstates 93 and 95 (128) off Washington Street. The recently upgraded building is part of one of the region's most successful office complexes. It offers a wide array of amenities including a Starbucks and other restaurants, FedEx Kinko's and two banks. The office park is a thriving community with numerous retail shops, medical facilities and business service firms, as well as direct MBTA express bus service from Haymarket Square.
