Mascoma,
General Motors enter biofuels pact

Biofuel company Mascoma
Corp.and automaker General Motors Corp. have formed a strategic relationship
to develop cellulosic ethanol, a fuel made from wood, paper pulp or agricultural
waste.
The companies announced
the partnership on Tuesday.
Financial terms were
not discussed. But the deal involves an undisclosed equity investment
by GM, (NYSE: GM) which is based in Detroit.
GM's partnership with
Boston, Mass., based Mascoma will focus on Mascoma's single-step biochemical
conversion of non-grain biomass into low-carbon alternative fuels.
