Fresh City, LSG Sky Chefs
ink joint venture
Needham-based franchise
restaurant company Fresh Concepts Inc. has signed a licensing agreement
with airline food service provider LSG Sky Chefs to bring its Fresh
City restaurant food concept to LSG's in-flight meals program.
Fresh Concepts operates
the Fresh City and Souper Salad Restaurants of Massachusetts chains.
Financial terms
of the deal were not disclosed.
Under the agreement, Sky Chefs, which is the world's largest provider
of in-flight catering, with 2002 revenue of $3.1 billion and deals with
260 airlines, will adapt menu items from Fresh City's restaurants. Sky
Chefs will prepare the meals in its own kitchens at various airports
throughout the country.
Fresh City Sky Chefs
will collaborate to select signature sandwiches, salad wraps and bakery
items.
Founded in 1997,
Fresh City has 11 restaurants throughout Greater Boston and Hartford,
including locations along the Massachusetts Turnpike and Bradley International
Airport.
Fresh City restaurants
feature fresh, fast-casual cuisine such as salads, wraps, stir-fry dishes
and fruit smoothies.
LSG Sky Chefs is
a subsidiary of Germany-based LSG Lufthansa Service Holding AG.
