Disposable Medical Device Developer Pluromed Raises $915K

Pluromed Inc. has raised $915,649, or nearly half of a planned $2 million debt offering while attracting 20 investors.

Principals named in a recent SEC filing by the Woburn-based healthcare firm are:

• CEO Jean-Marie Vogel;
• Alexander Schwartz, co-founder and director;
• John Barberich, director and former CFO of ACADIA Pharmaceuticals;
• George Holbrook Jr., director and managing partner of Palm City, Fla.-based Bradley Resources Company;
• Donald Freeman Jr., director and former CEO of HydroCision Inc. and RadioMed Corp.;
• Harry Baikowitz, director and former CEO of Technitrol-Eco Inc.; and
• William Cohn, director and venture partner at Austin, Texas-based PTV Sciences LP

Pluromed, founded in 2003, is a medical technology company that develops disposable medical devices that improve the safety, efficacy and economics of medical interventions. Its products help control bleeding during medical procedures and are used in a variety of surgeries. Pluromed's technology also is used in the treatment of kidney stones and gastrointestinal polyps.
