Discovery
Labware renews lease in Woburn
Media Release
Discovery Labware,
Inc., a branch of leading global medical technology giant, BD (Becton
Dickinson and Company), combined a face-lift with its recent multi-year,
25,000 square foot lease extension at 6 Henshaw St., Woburn.
According to company
officials, Discovery Labware is a business unit of BD Biosciences, which
is one of three business segments of BD. BD Biosciences reportedly is
one of the largest businesses supporting life sciences today with regional
offices in Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Japan, Canada and the
United States. BD manufactures and sells medical devices, instrument systems
and reagents and is dedicated to improving health throughout the world.
Cummings Properties'
associate property manager, David Ryder, explained that Discovery Labware
benefited significantly from Cummings Properties' vertically integrated
structure that includes in-house leasing, design, construction and property
management. "Our team worked with BD's global real estate group to
develop a program to renovate and update the space. We were able to complete
the entire project in 45 days while their operations were on-going,"
he added.
Ron Rondeau, facilities
manager for Discovery Labware, said this was his first time working with
Cummings Properties on a construction project. "We were impressed
with their professionalism and on-time delivery. The project was exceptionally
smooth."
Discovery Labware
was represented by Tamie Thompson, managing director of Jones Lang LaSalle.
David Suny, senior operations manager, and Ryder represented Cummings
Properties.
Cummings Properties,
a locally owned real estate development company, reportedly has more than
100 life sciences industry leaders occupying nearly 2 million square feet
of space in ten communities around Boston. Many of the firms, like Discovery
Labware, are in Woburn, which reportedly has one of the state's highest
concentrations of life science firms behind Cambridge.
