CardioTech gets FDA nod for wound dressing
Boston Business Journal
CardioTech International Inc. in Woburn has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration Clearance to start selling a new line of wound dressing.

The new dressing, named AlgiMed, will likely go on sale by this January and complement the company's HydroMed wound dressing gel. AlgiMed is a dressing made of calcium alginate. When the dressing comes into contact with blood, the calcium acts to help stop bleeding.

The advanced wound care market, which involves specialized dressings to treat serious wounds, is at $1.5 billion and growing, according to CardioTech's estimates.

CardioTech will sell the product itself through warehouse facilities in Massachusetts and California, via sales representatives domestically and national distributors internationally.
