BioTrove Inc., a Woburn maker of systems for drug discovery and genomic research, has added a financial chief to its management team, according to the company.

BioTrove reports Jeffrey Leathe is the company's new CFO. Leathe previously served as CFO and executive vice president of Apogent Technologies Inc., a Portsmouth, N.H.-based provider of laboratory and life sciences research products that was sold in 2004 to Fisher Scientific Inc.

Leathe earned his MBA from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and his bachelor's degree in science from the University of New Hampshire. He is also a certified public accountant, according to BioTrove.

BioTrove is a privately held firm that offers two technology platforms, including its RapidFire systems and OpenArray tools used in genomic research for science-related industries. Last month the firm formed a co-marketing deal with Agilent Technologies Inc., of Santa Clara, Calif.
