BioTrove names
new president and CEO BioTrove Inc. of Woburn named chief operating officer Robert Ellis as the new CEO and president and will be responsible for guiding the company's microtechnology-and nanotechnology-scale drug discovery products to commercialization, the company announced Monday. BioTrove, a privately funded company founded in 2000, is developing nanotechnology that will reduce the size of drug tests and hopefully speed up the drug discovery process as a result. The company's technology includes the Living Chip, which would allow a single scientist to perform 1 million chemical experiments a day. Ellis joined the company in May after holding senior executive positions at a number of biotechnology companies. With Ellis' promotion,
BioTrove's founding CEO, Colin Brenan will become the company's chief
technology officer and senior vice president of research and engineering
development.
